NOW is collaborating with local advocates for women and children to host our first "court watch" training where activists can help women who are dealing with divorce and domestic violence by attending Orleans family court proceedings to act as observers and take notes.

We are delighted that for our first training, Richard Ducote, a nationally recognized child advocate and attorney, will be available to answer questions and offer his observations. Representatives of the Tulane Domestic Violence Clinic will also be in attendance.
Because court proceedings are held on weekdays and due to the limited number of training seats, we are requesting that if you would like to become a court watcher you MUST be available on weekdays. If your current work schedule doesn't allow for that, there are other ways for you to assist with our efforts. Please got to The Custody Justice Project to offer your services.
To learn more about the family court system, we recommend that you watch "Breaking the Silence", the PBS Documentary that discusses how the judicial system nationwide gives custody of children to the very same violent abusers who have abused them and their mothers.
